Making calls is easy!
You'll need two things:
A phone (one that makes phone calls).
A web browser.
These can be the same device (for example, your cell phone). We do not use auto dialers; you'll call from your phone using your phone number. If you'd like to hide your phone number, you can sign up for a free Google Voice account and use the Google Voice app to dial instead.
First, make sure that you sign up for Downballot here:
https://app.downballot.io/signup
Let someone from the campaign know what e-mail address you used so we can add you to our call team.
Log in to your Downballot account here:
https://app.downballot.io/login
Once you enter your e-mail address, Downballot will send you a 6-digit password. Enter that, and then sign in.
Select "Elect Luann"; that's our campaign.
Select "Groups"; that's where we'll pick a group to call.
Pick the group to call. For this push, we'll be using "Call Targets".
Click on the "Call Time" button to pull up the call time screen.
Pick a filter. We're using "Cold Call: Canvassed But Not Connected".
These are people whose doors we've knocked, but we haven't been able to speak with them yet.
Click "Search" to find a person to call.
Make the call!
You can either click or tap "Call", which should open your phone application, or you can just dial the number listed.
Most likely, you'll go to voicemail. Just read from the script.
If someone actually answers, they'll most likely hang up on you as soon as you say who you are. If you can, remind them about the primary in September. It's all in the script, though, so don't worry.
Once the call is over, we need to know if the number was good or bad.
A "Bad number" is one that gives you a generic Verizon message saying that the number is not in service, for example. If it rang, if you got to voicemail, if a robot blocked your call, etc., then it's a good number and you can pick "Called".
Before selecting "Bad number" or "Called (continue)", you can also provide some additional information.
If you actually spoke with the person, you can toggle on the "Yes, we spoke with this person" button. If it's solid blue, then it's toggled.
If we know their support status, then you can select the appropriate one. If we don't know it, then don't worry about it.
-2: "I'm not voting for Luann", "I've already made up my mind", etc.
-1: "I don't think I'll vote for Luann"
0: "I'm still making up my mind"
1: "She sounds good", "I'll vote for Luann", "You've got my vote"
2: "I'll put a sign up in my yard", "Can I volunteer with you?", "Where can I donate?"
If there's anything that you'd like us to know about this person, put it in the Notes section. Make sure that you click on "Save Notes" to save the notes before doing anything else.
